Email marketing is a form of direct marketing which uses email as a means of transmission of commercial messages or fundraising for a hearing.
In its broadest sense, every e-mail sent to a potential or current customer could be considered e-mail marketing. However, the term is generally used to refer to:
- send e-mails in order to improve the relationship of a merchant with its current or former customers, and to encourage customer loyalty and repeat business,
- send e-mails in order to acquire new customers or persuade existing customers to buy something immediately,
- Add ads to emails sent by other companies to their customers,
- and sending email over the Internet, like e-mail did not exist outside the Internet (eg electronic mail network and FIDO). Read the rest of this entry »
